This strain produces ales with a full chewy malt flavor and character, but finishes dry, producing famously balanced beers. Expect moderate nutty and stone-fruit esters. Best used for the production of cask-conditioned bitters, ESB and mild ales. Reliably flocculent, producing bright beer without filtration. Good in English IPA, English Pale Ale, Oatmeal Stout, Southern English Brown Ale, Bitter, and Sweet Stout.

Brewed an English Mild using the 1469 strain and was very pleased with the results. Clean finish, slight nutty flavor and well balanced to allow the malt bill to shine through.

I make a lot of English style ales and have used '1028 London Ale' almost exclusively for the past couple of years and been very happy with it. This 1469 was an experiment for me. It produced a very nice nutty malty back taste that I really liked and it settled out quite well for a surprisingly clear brew. It was noticeably drier than 1028, more so than I care for. I will give it another try and tweak the malt base to try to compensate for the dryer characteristic of this strain. I think that with a little more tweak to balance it out this can be a great addition to my recipe book.

Used for an American Pale Ale style. SG 1.068, FG 1.005. Finished dry, with hint of nutiness, great body. Fermented at 70 deg F. Balanced well with hops and malt.
