using for winemaking

Review by greg on 2/6/2026

Almost a 5 star for making wine. I love the capacity. It allows us to use two or three wine bases of different flavors. For example the first try is a strawberry rhubarb combo. It is looking and sample tasting spectacularly. We love being able to "rack" the wine without needing to transfer it to another vessel. We bottle from the collection cup after polishing and sweetening. A couple of negatives. The lid is impossible to remove without a thin blade screwdriver to get it started. Also the slopes could be a bit steeper, the settling debris collects on the slopes instead of falling into the collection cup. That's not huge, but it requires multiple efforts to loosen it as more falls back onto the slope. Overall still better than buckets and carboys and the constant moving of the wine. Also we love to watch the fermentation and the very clear plastic allows for a front row seat.

Cheap and easy way to go.

Been using 2 glass carboys per batch (10gal) for 20 years. This fancy little gizmo makes life easy. No more sucking on a hose to transfer, no more death shake. Simply toss in beer and yeast and let er rip. Can even drink strit for it.
