This kit will convert all 10 gallon Igloo®, Rubbermaid®, and Gott® round water coolers into an insulated mash tun. Everything is included, the stainless false bottom, valve, connecting barbs, silicone seals, and tubing.
This includes our false bottom with a wort pickup pipe that is held ¼" from the floor of the cooler for maximum efficiency, and a silicone lip for the false bottom to both securely seal it to the cooler bottom and prevent cooler scratches. The included valve has 1/2" female NPT threads for the inlet and outlet.
Just remove the valve from your existing 10 gallon cooler, and install the bulkhead and valve, and the inside false bottom and hose attachment. Includes a 3/8" outlet hose barb.

Q: what size are the fittings? 1/2 inch?
A: 1/2" female NPT for the valve and 1/2" male NPT for the bulkhead. Both the inner and outer barbs are 3/8" outer diameter.

Q: Would this work with Fermenter’s Favorite (7- or 10-gal) cooler?
A: It looks to us like the 10 gallon Fermenter's Favorite is very similar to a 10 gallon Igloo or Rubbermaid/Home Depot cooler, and if so, it will work.

Q: What is the dead space of the false bottom
A: The false bottom is 2 1/2 inches high in the middle. The dead space depends on the cooler. You can measure the dead space in your cooler by filling your cooler with the valve removed and fill it until water just starts to flow from the hole where the valve mounts.

Q: Are all the valve components and fittings 100% stainless steel?
A: All are except the collar of the nut which holds the inner hose nipple for the bulkhead. This nut is nickel plated brass (FDA approved).

Q: Will this work with the 10 gal igloo coolers from Lowes?
A: We have not tried this, but based on the fact that this looks very similar to 10 gallon Igloo coolers we have tested, it will work.
Excellent Kit
Worked perfectly on a Lowe’s 10 gallon cooler. Two batches down with this system and very happy with the quality of the materials, instructions and performance! I had a slight issue that was my fault and I cut the rubber false bottom seal trying to get it on. I contacted Willam’s Brewing to buy another one and they sent one right out free of charge - that’s excellent service from a great company.
Good kit
Great for your mash tun . One thing the instructions don’t say is to use plenty of Teflon tape around where the nuts will finally seat on the valve and thermometer threads. Learned the hard way. They should update the included instructions.
Does What It Does Well
This was one of many pieces ordered to turn my wine making gear into whole grain brewing. This fit nicely in my 10 gallon Gatorade cooler (apologies to my Scout Troop). Easy clean up and held my grain bed in place.
Worked well with one exception
This cooler conversion kit worked really well. All the pieces were there and the false bottom worked great on my first brew with it. My only complaint, and it's not with the product itself, was that it's very difficult to get a good seal using a Rubbermaid cooler. I ended up getting some more Teflon tape, fender washers, and a gasket. It still leaked a little bit of water but once I started mashing it stopped. After reassembling about 15 times I was frustrated enough that I said I could live with the very small leak. Fortunately it stopped almost immediately with use. My recommendation is to get an igloo cost.
Works well but has one annoying issue
Overall the conversion kit works well but the silicon lip that goes around the mesh edge does not stay on. Simply removing the false bottom can knock this off and it is a little difficult to put on. It is already showing signs of a slight tear. If the silicon lip had a larger or deeper design it would probably stay on.
