Five Star Chemicals has been producing cleansers for commercial breweries for some time, and has now packaged their cleaning technology into home brewing sized packages. Their approach is twofold; the brewer first uses Powdered Brewery Cleaner to remove deposits from equipment, and then uses Star San, a professional grade soaking cleanser, to sanitize the cleaned equipment.  When diluted as instructed, Star San does not require rinsing, and will not stain.   Both PBW and Star San are safe for limited contact use with stainless steel, plastic, copper, brass, and ceramics, and are safe for septic systems.

This one quart bottle of Star San will make up to 160 gallons of dilute working solution that does not need to be rinsed after use. Use by itself, or in conjunction with PBW powdered brewery cleaner (to remove deposits before the final rinse).

RESTRICTED SHIPPING: Ground shipment only to lower 48 states. No air shipments, and no postal shipments (no shipments to Zone C).

Star San works great

Review by ANDY F. on 6/27/2006

Pros: I have used this for years and it is awesome! Concentrated so it lasts forever. I make a batch on brew day with one ounce and it cleans everything. It foams to reach all areas. Don't have to rinse but I don anyway. Works on all materials - stainless, plastic, tubing etc. Good to put in a spray bottle for surfaces, spoons, etc.

Cons: Don't have any.

Star San saves time

Review by Andrew C. on 10/28/2007

Pros: This is by far the easiest sanitizer to use. No more rinsing 5 times to remove all traces of your regular cleanser. This no rinse sanitizer will save you tons of time when it comes to bottling.

Cons: None.

Pros: really easy to use product. works great for glass carboys if your local water is hard.

Excellent overall sanitizer

Review by peichenberger on 3/9/2008

Pros: This is an excellent overall sanitizer for homebrewing use. It is instantly soluble in water, needs no rinsing(although I do rinse quickly with hot water), and does not seem to corrode SS or other materials when immersed for as long as 24 hours. It can also be stored and reused, making the working dilution quite inexpensive.

Cons: The foaming action can be an annoyance, albeit a minor one.

Great product

Review by Josh on 5/15/2008

Pros: This is the best all around sanitizer on the market. It can be mixed to a working solution and reused. No need to soak things for hours or days. Only needs a few minutes of contact time.
