Description

Do you want to drink the clearest beer possible from your keg as quickly as possible? The Top Draw™ Beer Pick Up Tube fits any ball or pin lock keg, and replaces the rigid stainless dip tube with a stainless float pick up on a 22" food grade silicone hose. This flexible hose holds a 1" stainless beer pickup tube which is held 1" below the surface of the beer by the float.  As the level of the beer in the keg drops, the pick up tube remains 1" above the surface, always drawing the clearest beer all the way until empty.

Installs in a couple minutes - just unscrew the beer post on your ball lock keg, insert the provided short pick up tube, and attach the silicone tubing to the underside of the tube. Now dangle the hole assembly in the keg and you are done.  For shorter kegs, cut the silicone tube to length.

If you carbonate by C02 injection, you can also convert your keg to one that carbonates quicker, and clears faster. To do this (Cornelius threaded post kegs only), unscrew both posts and remove both dip tubes. Then on the IN side of the keg, install the long beer pickup tube and screw on the GAS side fitting (the one with a notch on the base nut).  Then on the OUT side of the keg, install the Top Draw Dip Tube, and screw on the BEER side fitting (the one without a notch in the base nut).  Now when you attach the C02 to carbonate, it will bubble up from the bottom of the keg, carbonating quicker. When you dispense, the Top Draw Dip Tube will make sure you get only the clearest beer from near the surface.

The only downside to this switch is your gas line is connected to a beer dip tube, and if the pressure in your gas line drops to less than the pressure in the keg, your gas line will fill with beer. This can be prevented with a ball or pin lock check valve like our items P77 and P78, or with an in line check valve like our item D37.

Includes 22" of tubing, stainless float with attached pickup tube, and short replacement stainless beer dip tube with seating O ring.

Made from 304 stainless steel, and the silicone hose is made in Texas to our exacting USA food grade standards.

So Far, So Good
I love hoppy beers and there is nothing more frustrating than to get a clogged dip tube, plugged poppet or even a gunked up faucet (particularly a flow-control one). I shortened my dip tubes to try and prevent this, but still had problems with particularly hoppy beers or ones I naturally carbonated in the keg. I saw other floating dip tubes, but they were too expensive for me. When I discovered these for under $20, I thought I would give it a try. So far so good!

It installed easily and did not change my routine for filling the keg from the beer out post or carbonating. When I made by first pour, I had no clogs and no sediment. It was just clear and clean!

I will be curious to see how the rubber tubing holds ups, but that is cheap to replace when necessary. Overall, I am very happy I bought this. Now to save up to buy more!

Seems to work
The ball is smaller than it looks. I have used this only once in a 5gal keg with just beer. Poured it fine from start to finish. Time will tell. I only wish the S/H charge wasn't 50% of the cost.

Works Great!
The first company to come out with these wanted $40 ea. and I was hesitant to spring for one. I picked up two of these at the intro price and now wish I'd bought 3 or 4 more. Saves money by not tossing the first couple of pours and gives you brighter beer more quickly.

Works Great
Just started kegging after 40 years of bottling
So I was reading about sediment that forms in the keg as does in the bottle. This Top Draw seemed like a great idea. Its in my first keg of Fire in the Hole, and is doing what its supposed to do!
Feel its a little pricier than it should be......But it is a new product and I sure it will come down in time......

Does adding this impact the typical calculations for balancing your keg setup? If so, what is the calculation? Thanks!
Not that we are aware of.

Can this be used in a closed transfer from fermenter to keg? Or is it advised to first transfer to keg through standard diptube and THEN install this?
If you mean if you can fill a keg with this attached to one keg from another keg or from a fermenter, this should be possible.

Can I run the C02 through the long "liquid" pickup dip tube (to more quickly carbonate the keg from the bottom) and attaching the Top Draw to the other "gas" connection. Is this feasible? (I understanding is that the two posts are slightly different.)
Yes, although the gas fitting on your keg will not accept the black beer ball lock female fitting. To remedy this, we have just come out with a Cornelius-keg compatible male post that is universal, and accepts both grey gas ball locks and black beer ball locks. The item number is Z83.

How is this cleaned?
Rinse the keg after use, including running warm water (or occasionally sanitizer) down the beer side to flush out the silicone hose.
