As the level of the beer in the keg drops, the pick up tube remains 1" below the surface, always drawing the clearest beer all the way until empty. The stainless float ball itself is 1.75" in diameter.

Q: Do you take out the regular liquid dip tube and just keep the keg post and poppet to seal it off, or do you use some kind of cap to close it off?
A: No, the lid has a dip tube with float, and you leave the keg as is without modifying anything except switching lids.

Q: I don’t get it? Why the extra liquid post? How would it be used in addition to the liquid post already on the keg? Thanks.
A: It lets you alternate between the fixed pick up tube and the floater. It lets you turn a keg temporarily into a keg with a floating dip tube so you don't have to remove the dip tube.

Q: Where is the gas post? I only see the liquid?
A: The lid only has one post, liquid. Use the keg gas post for the incoming C02.

So this gives me an added level of flexibility with transfers and dry hopping, especially with my NEIPAs.
