This type 304 stainless false bottom has been designed to fit the 30 Liter Grainfather. It can be a tight fit in some Grainfathers which is why it is on sale.  Includes pictured lifting ring. 11 5/8" overall diameter (290mm), and the 3 legs are 1 1/2" high, or 35mm.

Please read the reviews, some customers have problems with this unit, which is why it is on closeout.

It also fits the Mash & Boil and Anvil, although the fit is a bit loose for loose grain, but works fine for brew in a bag brewers.

Damaged bottom of grainfather

Review by David on 4/30/2024

As others have mentioned the top of the ring hits the bottom of the grain basket. Using this with a larger grain bill, I noticed that I now have minor dents in the bottom of the grainfather where the feet sat. Luckily this doesn't seem to have impacted functionality and it's only cosmetic. I've quit using this and went back to a hop spider.

Trash

I might as well made this myself with a Jiffy Pop container. Ever thought of putting a folding ring on this? Simple fix, but doesn't help that the damn thing floats in the boil. I was wondering what the hell I kept hitting when I was stirring. Sure enough. As for keeping the hops out of the pump, you are better off with a hop spider or two, because that thing got clogged three times in one brew day. No wonder they keep dropping the price. I threw mine in recycling because I don't even want to see it again.

Ring on top makes it hard to use

The ring on top of the false bottom hits the bottom of the grainfather G30 grain basket. If there is a solution, let me know how. Thanks

Mostly, really good

Review by RickW on 12/18/2022

I've used this false bottom for one brew so far: an IPA. It did a really good job filtering out the hops (so that they didn't make it into the fermenter). The 2 reasons I give 4 (not 5) stars is: 1. the lift ring is too big, so it hits the bottom of the mash pipe. 2. the metal is a bit thin, and thus a bit flimsy. Bottom line: If you often brew using lots of kettle hops, then you should get one of these.

Future brews will tell

It's a tight fit. Almost to the point I'm worried that it will scratch the walls of the grainfather. The ring on top bumps into the false bottom of the mash bin. Which also raises the mash bin so adjust your software to take in account the extra deadspace.

Q: Can I answer my previous question? I purchased the false bottom and find that they fit perfectly in my Anvil Foundries.

A: Yes you can, thanks for the follow up.

Q: Will this fit in the Anvil Foundry? By my measurements it is almost exactly the clearance available. If you can check, I'd probably buy two.

A: Sorry, we do not have an Anvil here to check, as we are not a dealer.

Q: How about replacing the ring with this 304 stainless steel d ring? https://www.amazon.com/CH-trade-Stainless-Lashing-Hauling/dp/B08R2X3L8X/ref=sr_1_4?crid=11RLZ79MHT58J&keywords=stainless+steel+dring&qid=1707581206&s=automotive&sprefix=stainless+steel+dring%2Cautomotive%2C127&sr=1-4

A: That is a good idea. These are a closeout item, so we are not going to modify them, but customers are free to make changes.

Q: would something like this work to replace the ring: https://sea-dog.com/groups/210-folding-d-ring

A: It should, we have not tried it

Q: Same question as Rob. The ring messes up as it gets is contact with the grain basket and , no the video does not address that problem. Does anybody have a solution for this ? Like maybe bending the ring ? It is ridiculous to pay for something and have no real use for it

A: Not at this time. The ring can be removed. The item is being sold half price in light of this.
