Do you want to drink the clearest beer possible from your keg as quickly as possible? The Top Draw® Beer Pick Up Tube fits any ball or pin lock keg, and replaces the rigid stainless dip tube with a stainless float pick up on a 23" food grade silicone hose. This flexible hose holds a 1" stainless beer pickup tube which is held 1" below the surface of the beer by the float.  As the level of the beer in the keg drops, the pick up tube remains 1" below the surface, always drawing the clearest beer all the way until empty.  The stainless float ball itself is 1.75" in diameter.

Installs in a couple minutes - just unscrew the beer post on your ball lock keg, insert the provided short pick up tube, and attach the silicone tubing to the underside of the tube. Now dangle the hole assembly in the keg and you are done.  For shorter kegs, cut the silicone tube to length.

If you carbonate by C02 injection, you can also convert your keg to one that carbonates quicker, and clears faster. To do this (Cornelius threaded post kegs only), unscrew both posts and remove both dip tubes. Then on the IN side of the keg, install the long beer pickup tube and screw on the GAS side fitting (the one with a notch on the base nut).  Then on the OUT side of the keg, install the Top Draw® Dip Tube, and screw on the BEER side fitting (the one without a notch in the base nut).  Now when you attach the C02 to carbonate, it will bubble up from the bottom of the keg, carbonating quicker. When you dispense, the floating dip tube will make sure you get only the clearest beer from near the surface.

The only downside to this switch is your gas line is connected to a beer dip tube, and if the pressure in your gas line drops to less than the pressure in the keg, your gas line will fill with beer. This can be prevented with a ball or pin lock check valve like our items P77 and P78, or with an in line check valve like our item D37.

Includes 22" of tubing, 304 grade stainless float with attached pickup tube, and short replacement stainless beer dip tube with seating O ring.

Top Draw Beer Pick Up Tube

Review by Richard on 11/13/2018

Just racked my latest IPA into a 5 gal. ball lock keg using the Top Draw Beer Pick Up Tube. Works great! I'm very pleased with the clarity of the beer. I'm going to order more. They are on back order now but should be in stock January 2019.

Works as stated

It was easy to install and had no issues with using it. It helped us avoid drawing the trub from the bottom of the keg, and we got better tasting beer as a result. We are on the wait list to buy a couple of more when they're back in stock!

It works!

Even a well-conditioned beer often throws a little sediment in the bottom of the keg, which then gets picked up in the first few pours. And then if you move the keg, even just a little, the remaining sediment gets disturbed and you get cloudy beer again. Well, not with this little device. You're always drawing from 1" below the surface, so you're getting the clearest beer in the keg. Even if you move it, the disturbed sediment at the bottom stays at the bottom and settles back out again, instead of getting sucked up in your pour. So far the only time I've had a problem was with an overcarbonated keg. When I put it on at serving pressure, it foamed - floating the ball, so the intake was in the foam. I opened the keg and found the problem, closed it back up and repressurized to collapse the foam, and all went well. So just be aware that can happen if you serve at a significantly lower pressure (or higher temperature) than you carbonated at.

Draw Top works well

This is just what I needed. It's a great option if you dry hop in the keg or just like to load up your IPA's with a ton of hops. No more clogged pickup tubes!

Top Draw Beer Pick Up Tube

Review by Joshua on 2/12/2019

Great product so far. I think it is easy enough to put into kegs. I have them in four of them. I guess one can argue about getting them as clean as the dip tubes. They're not stainless steel and may discolor overtime depending on the SRM of your beer. However, they still serve their purpose and have not had a clog at all as compared to kegs with dip tubes. I would recommend them to anyone who likes to brew DIPAs or anything with a lot of hops like I do or anyone who wants a clear beer. William's Brewing Responds: Glad you like the Top Draw. However, they are 304 grade stainless steel.

Q: I'm getting a lot of foam. Pressure is less than 5psi. Where does it come from?

A: It sounds like your beer is over carbonated. Try shutting off your regulator and slowly releasing the pressure in the keg by pulling up on the ring on the pressure release valve on the keg lid.Make sure the beer is cold enough. Get the temperature below 40°F. Let it sit for a 20 minutes then try and draw out some beer. Don't turn the regulator on again until the beer stops flowing, then turn it back on and set it to 3-5 PSI.

Q: How long is the short stainless diptube?

A: One and a half inches long.

Q: What temperature is this rated for? Would it withstand boiling wort?

A: We have not tested it, but it is consists of silicone tubing and stainless steel, both of which can survive boiling. The tubing will probably get very soft and may not be rigid enough to function when boiling.

Q: Does anyone know if this would fit in a 10 gallon corny keg?

A: It should, we do not have a 10 gallon here to test with, but if the gas dip tube is a 1/4" diameter stainless tube, it should fit. You may have to buy more feet of tubing to reach the bottom of the keg.

Q: Will the ball fit through the neck opening of a Sanke keg?

A: If the neck opening is 2" it will fit.
