Backnut is a good nut.
Bought a handful of them to replace my transfer valve standard backnuts. They work great. The backnut can be reused if a bucket is junked.

Nice product
I've been looking for something like this. I almost built one until I found this. Really nice hardware.

Used a lot
Pros: I wore out my first one and now I'm buying a new ne and a spare. A great alternative to the hassle of siphoning.

Cons: As long as you're careful and don't tightent too far, you shouldn't have a problem with leaking, just be aware.

Is the opening pointed vertically (12 o'clock)?
It is pointed where it ends up after tightening. It should be at 6 pm for proper use.

What does this do and how does it get installed. Not much information or pictures of item in use.
This is usually used on a bucket style fermenter to keep beer (and yeast sediment) out of the Transfer Valve during fermentation with an elbow bend. On our Siphonless fermenter it screws on the inside on the back of our valve but can fit on any valve with 3/4” tapered male pipe threads.
