Precooked flakes mean these are ready to mash (they are pre-gelatinized). Adds a lighter crisp corn character to beer, and is the principal ingredient in American whiskey and bourbon mashes.

This is an actual shipping item, shipping calculated at checkout based on your delivery zip code.

Q: How long will this keep?

A: Flaked corn can go rancid fairly quickly. How long it will last depends on how it is stored. If you don't intend to use it within a couple of months, you should store it in a sealed container in a freezer or at least refrigerate it. If you don't have a place to store what is left from a 50 pound bad, consider buying just what you need. We also sell flaked corn in one and ten pound bags.

Q: What percentage of the grain bill or gris is recommended?

A: Depends on if you are brewing beer or whiskey/bourbon. For beer, you do not want to go over 40%, while for spirits, you can use 60% or more, although the mashing and sparging will be more difficult.
