Brown Ale in Southern England has traditionally been a bit sweet and low in gravity, while Brown Ale from the North has been stronger and drier in flavor. Our Brown Ale is modeled after the more hearty style of Brown Ale brewed in Northern England, and features a rich nut-like malt flavor and dark amber color lightly accented with English hops. Alcohol: 4.0%, IBU's 25.
Includes 7 lbs. of our blended malt extract, English Golding hops, 125 ml of liquid ale yeast, and corn sugar for carbonation. Makes 5 gallons of ale with a starting gravity of 1.044. Ease of Brewing: Beginner

Q: Does this kit come with grain malts that I have to steep in the Wort for flavor and color? Thanks
A: No, the extract is formulated for a brown ale, and does not need added steeping malts.

Q: What is the yeast that you use in the brown ale?
A: Wyeast London Ale 1028

Wife loved it.
We've been trying different types for fun. All have been good. For the upcoming Holidays this was the one my wife wanted ... by far her favorite.

My yeast was a lot slower in reacting than other yeasts...be patient
Williams Losing Its Touch
I've been a Williams customer for more than 25 years, and I'm here to tell you that Williams is definitely losing its touch on quality control. On two of my last three orders, which usually involve multiple kits, they've screwed up in one way or another. First it was the wrong extract. This time they sent the wrong aromatic hops. Probably smoking too much weed in the warehouse. William's Responds: Sorry for the problem you had with two of your last three orders. We have corresponded with you separately on this, and hope you will continue to grant us your business. And no, we do not smoke weed in the warehouse or allow any sort of intoxication during working hours!
Great Beer. Easy to Brew
As usual, the beer kit from Williams comes quickly and performs perfectly. I've never had a bad one. I particularly like the brown ale as a malty, complex pint of goodness. It will be great to have this on tap when it's ready to pour.
I brew this again and again!
I find myself brewing this at least a couple times per year. Always turns out good. An easy brew that tastes good! What more could you ask for?
