Q: Does the included ball valve come apart for sanitizing. If not, what is the recommended procedure for sanitizing the Digiboil’s ball valve.

A: We do not recommend taking apart the valve as small parts can be lost. We do not recommend sanitizing at all, just rinse it with water after use and let dry. The heat of the boil does enough sanitizing.

Q: For distilling will the temperature controls work like a voltage controller?

A: Not quite sure what you mean here, but with the temperature controls, you can set any desired temperature. This is handy in distilling as you can set it to say 205 F instead of boiling, for a more gentle boil to separate the alcohol from the water.

Q: So from a previous person, there is mesh basket for the grains - can you use a bag for the grains? What is the recommended method for grain separation? Thanks!

A: The Digiboil will probably throw an error code if you put a Brew In Bag inside it. This will restrict too much thermal flow in the boiler and trap excess heat next to the heating element which will trigger the error code.

Q: Will the immersion chillers for the robobrew fit? If so does this change the recommended total volume from 6.5 gallons?

A: Yes, the Robobrew immersion chiller will work with the Digiboil. While the fluid level will rise a small amount when inserting the chiller, it won't prevent you from using the Digiboil at the recommended total volume of 6.5 gallons.

Q: when it reaches boiling temp (212) for water will it be a rolling/bubbling boil?

A: It will reach a gentle rolling boil, although not quite as vigorous as if you were using a propane burner.
