Q: If the minimum mash water is 4.5 gallons, what would you recommend for partial mash recipes that only use 3 or 4 lbs of grains??

A: We have not done a partial mash recipe in the Mash & Boil, although we do not see why you cannot use 2 gallons of water with such a small amount of grain. It might be a little soupy but when you lift the basket to sparge the excess water will go away.

Q: Do you carry replacement parts for the Mash&Boil like replacement grain basket or replacement lids?

A: We do not have extras for sale but can replace a part if it becomes broken.

Q: Could you significantly shave off the time it takes to boil if you dropped a heatstick in the wort?

A: Yes, but you would want to plug it into a different circuit since the Mash and Boil is already using close to 15 amps.

Q: Would the GrainCoat be of any benefit? Faster boil etc? Its still kind of cold outside!

A: The Graincoat does not fit the Mash and Boil. You may be able to make something yourself using some heatproof insulation material from a hardware store.

Q: Can you use a hop bag with this during boiling or will it cause issues with the burner?

A: A hop spider like our Q47 is probably a better long term choice. You can use a hop bag, although if it sits on the bottom it may be scorched by the burner. Also, if it sits on top of the thermostat probe (near the valve inlet) it may trigger an ERR4 code (blocked thermostat or run dry condition) in which case you will have to reset the unit by pressing the reset button on the bottom center.
