A: As long as you do not use chlorine bleach to sanitize, or any chlorine based cleanser, you should be fine. Also, Kombucha has a lower pH than beer, and we do not recommend using this as a Kombucha fermenter. So, if it is used as a boiling pot for beer, which is normally not sanitized with anything but heat from the stove, it will last for years.

Q: Is the inside of the drain port threaded such that I could rig up a pickup tube?

A: Yes, it features 3/8" internal valve threads to fit our item R49 KettleScreen. You can also attach any other 3/8" male thread attachment such as a pickup tube.
