Smooth and balanced with a kick

Review by Ken Byington on 4/30/2011

This beer is lighter in color than expected after reading the description. Smooth and nicely balanced with a little hop finish but not bitter. A little sneaky strong. I will brew this again. 8 days in the primary, 16 in the secondary, and 9 days after bottling it was ready to drink. Improved after another 7 days in the bottle.

My most enjoyable beer kit.

Pros: I enjoyed drinking this finished product the most out of all the kits I have tried.

Cons: I wish it was available all year long

refreshing

Pros: An all round good beer with just a bit of zing to finish. OG was a bit lower than advertised and FG was a bit higher. Makes a great lower level for a black and tan when used with William's Porter

Great. Went to fast!!

Pros: I made this last year for my Ph.D. graduation party. I also purchased a 5-gallon keg of coeur d alene brewing company's lakeside Porter. My homebrew keg went quicker! This ale is smooth, light'ish and has a medium hoppy'ness. I will be making it again.

Cons: It was a bit sweet for me, but maybe it was a bit premature.
