Zin kit

Review by Thomas on 5/24/2014

I can't give an honest rating yet because the wine is still in the secondary stage. Tasted really good coming out of the primary (but still sweet, as expected). I hope to give this kit a 5 when it's ready I took the advice of a previous rater and added a quart of pomegranate juice before pitching the yeast. My patience is running thin.

A little on the sweet side for zin

Only in bottles for about 4 months, still a little sweet. Maybe I just need to keep waiting, but that is difficult!

California Zinfandel

This was my very first try at making wine. The kit was complete with everything necessary to make 5 gallons of wine. I started in Nov 2013 and bottled in Dec 2013. I added a few mashed raisons and some oak chips for additional flavor. I tasted the wine as I was bottling and it tasted pretty good. A friend of mine said that it would be even better in about one year. I'm using one bottle as a "taste tester". I'm keeping a log, and in a few months I'll taste it and reseal it. Then do the same each month for a year and see if does in fact improve with age. I plan to order some more kits and experiment even further.

Wow

Added a gal of pomegranate juice for 6 gals total. Tasted after two months in bottle - unbelievably delicious already! A friend who usually only drinks white wine said, "I'd buy this." Looks like I will have to make more.

Friends and Family loved it!

The kit was easy to make, this was my third time making this variety of wine from Williams, and it has been consistant every time. The flavor is very smooth, and aging doesn't take too long.
