Smooth as Glass!

Review by Gary Watts on 9/18/2011

Pre-mashed LME at its best! Boy, am I happy with this one! I made a Munich Tan Hippie Ale, consisting of 8 lbs. German Gold, 2.5 oz. Hallertau hops, 6 gal. distilled water with added minerals, and 1 packet of Safale US-05 dry yeast. If I can make a beer this GOOD, with these few ingredients that conform with the German Purity Law, William's ROCKS!!! I am having one right now, out of my Tap-a-Draft, but that's another STORY!

Nice 'N Easy!

I've been doing all grain brews for the past year and a half or so, but with two young kids it's tough to get an entire day to myself to brew. While listening to podcasts of the Jamil Show, I heard the commercials for Williams Brewing and their extracts. I was leery to go back to LME after dabbling with all grain, but I'm very glad I did. I gave their German Gold extract a go on a pale ale and the results were terrific! Not only did it shorten my brew day which was a huge bonus, but it made a ridiculously tasty beer with a simple recipe using less than a pound of specialty grains in the steep! Now, even if I get more time to brew, I'm going to have a hard time ignoring the allure of the Williams extracts!

Pros: Easy to use pouches. Excellent malt for water plus malt beer. Try 14# ger. gold ext. 3# corn sugar, cooper and nottingham yeast (1 each) Dry hop with 6 oz fresh cascade hops. 5 Gals gone in a week. Incredible strong, easy to make and DAMN it tastes so good. I'm sold I buy william's malt and no other

Cons: My friends drink all my beer cause its so good

Good Stuff

Review by Jim M. on 2/8/2010

Pros: What I really like about Williams malt extract is that they tell you what malts (i.e. munich, pale, pils) they use use and generally tell you in what proportions. Most other brands I've dealt with just tell you a generic name for their extract and not whats actually in their product.

Cons: The bags, I find, are generally more of a hassle than a convenience but very easily workable.

only malt I use for german lagers
