WOW - tripled my wattage

Review by Will on 4/10/2026

I am a patient brewer and distiller. I am in no particular hurry to hurry a stripping run. In the past, I have had puking if I tried to run my rig and my recipe at any faster than 500 watts. I added about half a teaspoon to my last run, and was able to run it at 1500 watts, not even a hint of dangerous foam. I am a 100% believer...

No mess

I use to think that if you have temp control and adequate fermenter head space that blow off / foam over shouldn't be an issue. But there are a few yeast strains that changed my mind (most recently Verdant) due to the massive krausen. I added 1/2 teaspoon per 5 gallon fermenter and problem solved. The only downside is that I judge the fermentation progress by the krausen and Fermcap S makes that a bit more subtle.

Great product

This product works in the boil or during fermentation. It has saved me a LOT of work and heartache from boil overs and clogged airlocks. Recommended!

This + A Fan = No Boil Overs

Review by Travis on 8/12/2015

I start at 14.5 gallons in a keggle. That's almost over as it gets to a boil. I use this and keep a fan on top of the wort and I don't get much more than a sizzle over. I also use this in my fermentor to keep from pumping tons of yeast out.

Multi-purpose, kettle and fermenter

Review by John on 1/24/2014

- In the kettle, just before boiling, helps prevent boil-overs if timed properly - In the fermenter, very helpful in preventing krausen blow-outs. Use it when the krausen is gaining in thickness and before it reaches the top of the fermenter. Usually a very light "line" of it does the trick and allows you to use the maximum fermentation space.
