Description  more details

Porter was reputedly first brewed in London in 1722, perhaps in response to the then-popular pub practice of mixing the beers of two or three different casks in one glass. A London brewer developed a beer said to be like the blended pints, and porter was born. Today, porter is loosely thought of as a more mild form of stout, with a lower alcohol level and less intense flavor. Our Porter features a very smooth dark malt base balanced with selected English hops. Alcohol: 3.8%, IBU's 31.

Includes 6 lbs. of our blended malt extract, English hops, 125 ml of liquid ale yeast, and corn sugar for carbonation. Makes 5 gallons with a starting gravity of at least 1.039. Ease of Brewing: Beginner

You're gonna love THIS Porter!
I've bought many different kits from many different suppliers but i keep coming back to "Williams" and this Porter.
It's ease of brewing, flavor, and well written instructions make THIS "Williams" kit worth it's price.
Some kit purveyors out there need to hire Technical Writers to create their instructions.... some are "gibberish" and can not be followed. "Williams" on the other hand are clear, concise, in chronological order, and offer troubleshooting advice to the beginning brewer should they have problems.
I've never had a problem with any "Williams" kit and have a high confidence level in their products.

Great Home Brew Kit
I've been home brewing for quite a long time, but had taken a long break. I decided I wanted to brew up a beer for my kegerator. I read the reviews on this kit and decided on it. Having a lot of experience brewing, I found this kit to be extremely easy since it was a beginner kit. All I can say about the final product is WOW, WOW, WOW. This kit would be a perfect starting kit for the beginner who likes an easy drinking porter. It has a really good body without being a heavy beer. It isn't bitter at all. It has a beautiful creamy head that lasts a good long time. I was a little taken back when I saw a it had German yeast, but I have to admit that it works with this kit. I've tried other porters that after you swallow, they leave a bitter aftertaste. Not this one!! I found it to have a good mouth feel and a nice, smooth, and slight lingering flavor. This is a perfect beer for anyone who likes dark beers. I truly believe this is one of the best beers I've brewed. Thanks Williams Brewing.

Do you need to refrigerate the kit until you are ready to begin the process?
Yes, the liquid yeast in the kit should be refrigerated once you receive it, if you do not plan to brew for a couple weeks,
