A: Not that we know of. 5ml sounds way too small for this stirrer.
powerful stir plate for yeast cultures
I recently bought this unit to replace a homemade stir plate that just couldn't cut it any more. I also bought a 5 liter Erlenmeyer flask from a local lab supply co. here so I could increase the size of my yeast starters to one gallon if desired (I brew 15-20 gallon batches). Not to be disappointed, this unit will easily stir volumes that large. It's magnets are very powerful, and the stir bar shows no sign of throwing off to the side. It has a speed control that works very well. Extremely pleased.
Tooo well
This stirrer works almost too well on a 2 Liter Erlenmeyer flask - use it on a low setting to spare the yeast effects of shear forces.
