Great Western Full Pint Malt was developed at Oregon State University (originally named BCD-47). It is a spring 2-row barley, and has been described by the Sierra Nevada  Brewing Companies sensory panel as “very fermentable and having a very nice extract….Full Pint wort also tasted very good, pre and post boiled….a very pleasant and strong fresh salted popcorn note. A very positive clean sweetness as well, with no harshness or astringency…the fermented Full Pint beer was clean, slightly estery,  a bit tart and bready.”  Great  as a base malt for ales and English style beers. 55 pound sack.  Lovibond: 2.0° - 2.4°

 Great Western Specs:

Very good base malt

Review by Timothy T. on 4/17/2018

I bought this stuff on a whim and am currently about half way through the bag. I brew small batches (generally ~1 gallon) and have made everything from saisons to Baltic porters with excellent results. I've made multiple SMaSH beers, both lagers and ales, with good results, though I have not noted the "salted popcorn" flavor that the few other reviews around the internet mention. Overall good stuff and highly recommended as an all-around base malt.
