Description  more details

Since 1994, we have produced a spiced Holiday Ale every year for the Fall and Winter Holiday seasons. The current kit is based on a formulation we first perfected in 1999, and by popular demand, we have settled on this formulation ever since. A spiced honey brown ale, our Holiday Ale is spiced with orange peel, allspice and other spices. The spices balance the sweetness of the honey, and the resulting brown ale has a rich honey malt character and delicate bitterness.

Alcohol: 5.8%, IBU’s 35 Includes 9 lbs. of our blended malt extract and honey, mixed spices, flavoring hops, 125 ml of liquid ale yeast, and corn sugar for carbonation. Makes 5 gallons with a starting gravity of at least 1.058. Ease of Brewing: Beginner

Great Holiday beer
This was my very first brew. With that, it came out very drinkable but it is spicy for me = (christmas beer) so kind of like everyone else's christmas beer. For me I will cut the spices by 30% = more beer flavor beer (just my taste).
SO there is a 90% chance I will order it again when it comes out for 2020. Wished I could give 4.5 Stars, the 1/2 star loss is mostly my taste, but I also think you could let it set longer after fermentation to improve flavors. = the last glass was the best.

A good kit that can be made better
Have been ordering this for the holidays for the last 20 years. Some minor tweaking can make this kit the best in the field. First, use some freshly cut or grated orange peel and add to your boil for the last 10 minutes. Second, substitute the provided yeast with a Wyeast Weihenstepan yeast (Y66). The banana and clove esters from the yeast combined with the spices to provide a knockout winter warmer to the nose and taste buds.

Holiday Brew Day
First time user of Williams Brewing Supply. This was a very easy ale to brew. I have been looking for a really good ale for the holidays, so I hope it tastes as good as some of the past reviews have indicated. The only thing I did extra, was aerate the wort prior to pitching the yeast, which was not mentioned in the instructions.

Living in Florida I have to wait until late in the year to brew. I'll be brewing Fireside again and I know I can order it later..Always wanted to try "Holiday" but it's always out of stock later. How long can I store this in my fridge if I order now?
This kit will be available through mid-November, so it is better to wait until November instead of ordering it now. The malt and hops will last for months in the fridge, but the yeast will probably need to be replaced after a couple of months.
