Description  more details

Since 1994, we have produced a spiced Holiday Ale every year for the Fall and Winter Holiday seasons. The current kit is based on a formulation we first perfected in 1999, and by popular demand, we have settled on this formulation ever since. A spiced honey brown ale, our Holiday Ale is spiced with orange peel, allspice and other spices. The spices balance the sweetness of the honey, and the resulting brown ale has a rich honey malt character and delicate bitterness.

Alcohol: 5.8%, IBU’s 35 Includes 9 lbs. of our blended malt extract and honey, mixed spices, flavoring hops, 125 ml of liquid ale yeast, and corn sugar for carbonation. Makes 5 gallons with a starting gravity of at least 1.058. Ease of Brewing: Beginner

Holiday Brew Day
First time user of Williams Brewing Supply. This was a very easy ale to brew. I have been looking for a really good ale for the holidays, so I hope it tastes as good as some of the past reviews have indicated. The only thing I did extra, was aerate the wort prior to pitching the yeast, which was not mentioned in the instructions.

Holiday Tradition Continues
The Holiday Ale has been my go to holiday brew for the past 4 years and will continue to be for as long as I can brew. I keep forgetting to order 2 kits and have continued this tradition this year. Will again try to make up for this mistake and maybe you all won't be "SOLD OUT" this year....

Winter warmer
An annual favorite at holiday time. Funny to see all of the attempts to clone this beer on the home brewing forums, there's no need when you can just buy it from William's and make it!

Kick it up a notch
I like to add a bottle of pepper vodka to the 5 gal batch at bottling, just to make it a bit more "cheery" in the glass. I've never had trouble getting it to carbonate doing this. My son-in-law always starts asking if I have it around the holidays.

Holiday Ale
Excellent ale for the holidays. I've made this ale for a few years now, and it has become a family favorite and expectation. Can't wait to make it again this year!

Is this a hoppy or sweet beer overall?
It is a bit sweet compared to IPA styles, a honey brown ale with a hint of spice.
