This pin lock to ball lock conversion kit allows you to convert USA manufactured Firestone Challenger V, Challenger VI or Super Challenger pin lock keg to ball lock fittings.  These do not fit other brands of kegs.

They also do not fit Firestone kegs that were originally ball lock, only kegs that were originally pin lock. This is because kegs that were originally ball lock have 9/16-18" threads for the gas side, and different 10/16-18" threads for the beer side, while the same pin lock kegs had identical 9/16-18" threads on both the gas and beer side.   These feature 9/16-18 female threads.

The kit contains a stainless beer and gas post fitting with poppets and springs to hold them in place. Just unscrew the pin lock fittings on your pin lock kegs and screw these on.  Two O rings for the liquid and gas pick up tubes are also included, as are the keg fitting sealing O rings. Parts appearance may vary slightly.

Keeping Your Kegs Consistant
Bought 6 months ago to match an old Firestone to my other kit, no trouble with the installation and have had no problems with function. The set I received is all stainless construction, not aluminum, so no corrosion worries. (they apparently have switched to SS since the first review was posted)

Pin lock to Ball lock conversion kit
This product worked exactly as intended. Quick service and shipping, absolutely no problems in convertimg my Firestone kegs to ball lock. Would recommend William's Brewing to any one needing high quality supplies at resonable prices with a high level of customer support.

great customer service
When I first received this, the liquid post did not work. I called Williams and they sent out replacement the same day. Great customer service and product.

Works well but beware of corrosive cleaners
I got the conversion kit a year ago to transform a Firestone keg (shorter) into a fermenter and I wanted to use my ball lock hardware on it.
The posts fit perfectly and it works as described.
The only word of caution I have is regarding the fact that these are made of aluminum. The threads will tend to get more easily damaged against the stainless steel threads of the keg, so one has to be gentle on them. Secondly, I avoid using PBW on these as I think it oxidizes the aluminum, even though they are supposed to be anodized. Also, keep a close eye on the poppet valves... they are easy to lose down the drain if not careful.

I have a Firestone "Model F" keg with pin lock connectors. Both connectors seem to be the same threading. It was made in 1979 and says Spartanburg, SC and does not have the Italy code anywhere on it (mentioned in another question). Will these work?
You need to make sure that both threaded posts are 9/16" by 18. You can use a thread checker or get a 9/16" by 18 nut at the hardware store to verify before you order.

In your magazine, This kit says that it will " Firestone AND Spartanburg kegs that were originally pin lock, and allow you to convert from pin lock to ball lock fittings." But this online description says only Firestone. Clarity please?
It fits Spartanburg Kegs also, but only the earlier made in U.S.A. kegs, not the later made in Italy kegs (which were stamped Spartanburg).. To tell if you have a made in U.S.A. Spartanburg Challenger, look at the part number stamped on the front. If it ends with PS, your keg is made in Italy and this kit will not fit.
