Have you ever wanted to make a true bourbon barrel stout, or an oak aged barleywine? We now have 5 gallon American Oak bourbon barrels from Reservoir Distilling in Virginia. These are once used barrels which have stored Reservoir's premium craft rye wheat whiskey for at least 2 years before being drained during the first week of September 2019.  These impart a deep whisky/spicy-oak flavor and are perfect for aging your strong ales, and also ideal for sour ales. Barrels are crafted in the USA from oak grown in Virginia. A wood stand is optional. 17.5" long, 13.5" tall, 17.5" tall when on optional stand. Very limited supply. Note, appearance may vary, barrels are either imprinted with the variety or it is handwritten.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Note that wood barrels are imperfect, and may leak when initially filled, particularly if they are not filled within two weeks of receiving. They all have stains on them from seepage, which is normal for all oak spirit barrels.  We do not guarantee against leakage, but leaking barrels can be repaired by rehydration or wood plugs, check YouTube for instructional videos. Always fill a barrel with water and leave for 24 hours before use to check for leaks.

Good, but 25 liters, not 5 gallons
This is a good quality barrel with a heavy #5 alligator char. I've purchased Balcones barrels from other sellers and this barrel is on par with those as far as construction quality. The thing that attracted me to these is that they are single use barrels and the ones I have gotten from Balcones have been used more than once.
That being said, the seller really needs to modify the description. These are 25 liter barrels so they are 6.6 gallon barrels. I deducted 1 star because a critical description is incorrect. Depending on what you are filling it with, an additional 1.6 gallons of liquid may be a big deal, if say you are aging spirits. I'm having to compensate for this by using glass marbles to fill all the extra space.

Spend the extra money and buy the Balcones barrel instead
First off, the volume of these barrels is actually a little over 6 gallons, this may seem insignificant, but if you are planning of aging beer in one it is best to completely fill the barrel. If your maximum batch size is only 5 gallons you'll either need to double batch, or leave an unwanted amount of headspace. The quality of construction on these Reservoir barrels is a good bit lower than the Balcones. On the plus side these do have a larger bung hole than the Balcones, which really is too small to accept a 2 hole stopper which is needed to do a pressure transfer to a keg or bottling vessel.
