Description

An relatively new American aromatic variety that is excellent for both aroma and bittering. This variety is like a stronger version of Cascade, with a citrus-floral taste and aroma, although many tasters find a note of orange in the flavor. Excellent for hoppy American style ales. Average alpha acid: 8.5%

Amarillo® is the name of the VGXPO1 varietal hop sourced by Virgil Gamache Farms.

very good
Although this is compare to "cascade plus orange", I do not get that character. I use amarillo heavily in my late addition, hop-stand, and dry-hop for IPAs, and get a apricot/peach character.
I do minimally-dry IPAs, and as a standalone single hop, it results in a very mild IPA.. When i use it for a hopstand and then combine with the Citra and CTZ in the dry hop, it results in my favorite IPA flavor profile.

Great hop
Williams is by far the best shipping bar none. This is a very high quality product that is in short supply as of late. Love a good imperial IPA which is where this is going.

Love it
Amarillo works so well in American IPA's and pale ales. The flavor and aroma are excellent. This hop variety plays very well with so many other hop varieties.

Amarillo hops
William's Brewing Amarillo hops are hands down the best on the market. The pellet size are the largest I've ever seen, this seems to allow the the longest shelf life with strongest aroma.

How are these shipped? Flushed with nitrogen and vacuum packed?
They are not flushed with nitrogen, but packed on oxygen barrier bags and stored refrigerated. They are not vacuum packed, but we pack them every few weeks on our machine.
