Description

E.J. Beverage Ultra Barrier Silver beer tubing is 100% PVC free, antimicrobial beer tubing that is more flexible than the rather rigid Bev-Seal glass lined tubing. This 3/16" interior diameter is perfect for beer lines of 6' or shorter. Pressure up to 40 psi. 7/16" outer diameter.  Sold by the foot.

This tubing has 2.2 pounds of resistance per foot. What does this mean? It means if you have a 4' beer line of this tubing, you have a total of 8.8 pounds of resistance in the line. Generally, this means setting your PSI on your regulator to the same 8 PSI figure will result in good beer flow, although setting it lower (say 6 PSI or so) in some instances might be preferable to avoid adding carbonation to beer sitting in a keg.

Not a whole lot different
In addition to beer, I keep sparkling water and coffee on tap, and both are very susceptible to the plasticky taste of beer lines. I was sick of dumping the first ounce every time I poured either so I got these, plus new connectors. It unfortunately didn't make a difference. There's still a sharp plastic taste and I continue to have to dump the first little bit. Kinda a bummer given the price per foot plus new connectors. I think the only option remaining is the type of tubing that uses push connectors. I hear those are supposed to work.

Beer line
Don't skimp. Get this stuff over the cheaper stuff. The other stuff has a strong plastic/rubber smell to it that never went away. This stuff was great right out of the box! Don't waste your money on the cheaper ones!

thickwall tubing.
I was glad to hear of the microbial resistance features of this tubing. it is super thick and rigid but flexible enough to manage. looks pretty beefy.

Can I use this as gas line for carbonating my keg?
Yes, although 1/4" interior diameter tubing is more customary for gas line use.

Hello! What kind of friction does this tubing provide (i.e. what is the restriction in psi/ft)? I have seen some charts online saying the 1/4" barrier type lines provide 0.3 psi/ft restriction but can't seem to find anything for the 3/16" barrier lines.
From the manufacturer, E.J. Beverage, they say the 3/16" inner diameter tubing has 2.8 pounds of restriction per foot, while the 1/4" inner diameter tubing has .8 pounds of restriction per foot.
To use this information, multiply the pounds of restriction by the number of feet of tubing you plan to use. For example, if you have 4' of 316" Ultra Barrier Silver Tubing with a resistance of 2.8 pounds per foot, you have 11.2 pounds of resistance. You will need 11.2 PSI to dispense your beer at a flow of 2 ounces per second (11 PSI is fine).

Can this tubing be stretched to fit 1/4" hose barb or do I need to get a 3/16" adapter?
If you dip the tubing in boiling water for a few seconds to soften it beforehand, you can get it to fit.

What is the OD dimension?
14/32" of an inch, or a little under 1/2" diameter.
