  Ferrari Emily Capper (+ $16.99)

If you want to adapt your newer Emily, Auto Adjust, or Adjustable Bench Capper to cap Belgian Ale bottles and imported champagne bottles with 29 and/or 31mm bottle caps, order this 29/31mm crimping cap.

To install it on your Emily capper, first unscrew the regular crimping cup and screw this one in. Then reverse the crimping jaws, by pulling them out of their slots with a needlenose plier, and putting them back in in reverse. To install it on your later style Adjustable or Auto Adjust Bench Capper (cappers with sealing cups with female threads, not the ones with sealing cups with male threads), unscrew the sealing cup and install the new cup in its place.

To determine if you have a 29 or 31mm European ale or champagne bottle, measure across the top lip. 29mm bottles are 1 1/8" in diameter lip to lip, while the larger 31mm bottles are 1 1/4" in diameter lip to lip.

Note:  This does not fit older Emily Cappers that have male threads on the crimping cup or many bench cappers that also have male threads on the crimping cup. To check yours, unscrew its crimping cup - if the threads are on the inside of the cup mounting (female), this will fit. If the standard crimping cup has threads on the outside (male), this will not fit. Finish may be gold or silver.

Doesn't work very well
I saved a bunch of Belgium styles bottles only to find out after I had them filled they use a different sized bottle cap. Argggh. So I bought the 29mm caps and this bigger capper so I could use them. After realizing I had to rotate the jaws on the capper( it's not the easiest thing to do) I managed to install the caps. The problem is once the crimping is complete you can't get the capper of the bottle cap. It seems to be very securely wedged on and takes a lot of force to get it off. After getting it off I noticed a pretty severe dent in the top of the bottle cap from the magnetic cap holder. This capper works really well for the standard 26mm bottle caps but there seems to be something wrong with the geometry on the bigger caps. The current issue with getting it off the bottle after crimping makes it practically unusable as you would waste way to much time when bottling.
