After boiling them (for sanitizing as advised) the papers came off all by itself. Thumbs up for that. Then I used them to cork cap some beer bottles and some mead: No carbonation pressure was build in the beer bottles! And the cork disintegrated and got stuck to the glass mouths of my bottles. Would give this ZERO stars if I could. - Now I am stuck with the rest of my purchase (500 caps), trying to come up with an alternative use....

I am giving this a rate of 3 stars only because I could have used them wrong, but I did not get any sort of carbonation out of my Brown Ale. I almost feel as it they were not able to make a good enough seal while carbonating.
These caps may be fine if you don't soak them in Star San (or any sterilizer, perhaps even boiling water) prior to bottling. I gave the caps a quick soak in Star San and let them dry as per usual and bottled. The cider seemed to have a bit of carbonation initially, but as time went on, all the bottles were flat except the one cap that I didn't sanitize but grabbed out of the bag when I was short! The cork separated from the metal and stuck to the mouth of the bottle on most and had to be peeled off. I believe Star San might have disintegrated the adhesive between the cork and metal and destroyed to cork enough to prevent a seal.
A cautionary tale.
They could, but there is really no advantage, as bottle caps with plastic liners are more sanitary (cork does not provide any flavor advantage for wine).
