The Nesco Roaster is an American-made hot air design that can roast ¼ pound of green beans, and features an innovative catalytic converter that eliminates 90% of roasting smoke. Some smoke will still be produced by the Nesco, so roasting under a vent is recommended.
Easy to use - just fill it with beans to the fill level mark, cap with the chaff collector and put on the hinged top. Set the roasting time (usually 20 to 30 minutes) and press start to begin. Roasts 3½ to 5 oz. of green coffee per roast, 3½ when filled to the dark roast line. and up to 5 oz. when filled to the regular roast line. The machine is quiet enough to hear the first and second crack while roasting.
Roasts very evenly due to the unique cast auger design that spins off a belt-driven spindle in the base of the unit. The Nesco is ideal for people who prefer lighter roasts, as roast development can be closely watched, and the long roast period gives plenty of time for adjustment. If you like dark roasted coffee (to the point of being oily) you will probably be happier with the Fresh Roast, as it can achieve darker roasts in less time, and the small amount of coffee the Fresh Roast holds helps minimize fire danger.
