This new roaster from Behmor can roast ¼ to 1 pound of green coffee at a time, making it the largest capacity home coffee roaster available. Like the Nesco, it features catalytic converter technology that greatly reduces the amount of smoke produced by coffee roasting. Keep in mind that roasting an entire pound of coffee will produce some smoke, so roasting near a vent is highly recommended.

Awarded best new product at the 2007 Specialty Coffee Association of Americas May Expo, this innovative roaster features 4 custom pre-programed time controls, and 5 custom pre-programmed heat/roast profile controls, so you can vary the amount of heat the roaster produces during the 15 to 20 minute roast as well as the time. Automatic system diagnostic and troubleshooting is programmed into the unit as well.
The Behmor is ideal if you want to roast a lot of coffee at once, and do not like to roast to extremely dark French Roast levels, as this machine has fire safeguards which discourage extremely dark roasts. A scale is necessary to weigh out the ¼, ½, or 1 pound green bean portions, as the software in the machine is dependent on an exact weight of coffee in the drum. Unlike our other roasters, it is hard to see the roasting coffee roast, as you have to look through a screened roast drum and a screened chaff collector to see the beans (although the interior light helps). Accordingly, this machine is best for the intermediate to advanced coffee roaster who depends as much on the sound of the crack as on the color of the bean. The Behmor is quiet (like an electric rotesserie) and it is easy to hear the coffee crack as it roasts. This machine will get hot when roasting, and its steel top and sides become too hot to touch.

I bought this roaster about 4-5 months ago because I really wanted to be able to roast a whole lb of coffee for the week. Its design is compact and quiet. Variable temperatures and heat control

Chaff container design is poor causing a real mess when you are finished roasting. I recommend you roast in a garage or room you can easily vacuum and sweep up. I also wish you there was a big window on the front or side maybe so you could see your beans.
